Apocalypse Now continues counting down with the 3rd edition kicking off with another legend of our scene. We opened up in January with a full house for Jeff Mills and for our 3rd night Radio Slave will be taking to the Button Factory stage on March 30th. Matt Edwards aka Radioslave is a man whose music has made a huge impact on us here at Apocalypse towers and we’re delighted to have the opportunity to have Radioslave come play our party and show us how it’s done… Radioslave will be making full use of his visit with a marathon 3 hour set !

Radio Slave [Matt Edwards, Rekids]

The Short ….

No matter what sounds you profess to be your music of choice, chances are, that at some point over the last five years, you will have got your rocks off to Radio Slave aka Matt Edwards. Matt has made a huge dent dance music’s collective consciousness over the last few years with his productions and remixes for a sleuth of quality labels form across the globe. He is perhaps most respected and singled out for his versatility and willingness to incorporate fresh styles in his music. DJ hero and owner of the much praised Rekids imprint, Radio Slave steps back into town after a nearly three year absence to woo the Dublin crowd.

The long…..

As Matthew E he fashions club-based, dancefloor slayers. Under that aegis he’s updated the classic Chi-town, jackin’ sound beloved of house aficionados and layered it with fractured funk, belligerent, oddball beats and mechanical soul.

If Matthew E is all about the Saturday Night Fever, then, by contrast, Rekid is the slower, more deliberate, rhythmical funk of the mid-week mayhem. Its well-intentioned muscular intensity making it perfect soulful sustenance.

Last, but by no means least etc, etc, etc, is Radio Slave. This is Matt’s DJ moniker and the guise under which he completes his incendiary remixes and re-edits. Perhaps Matt’s most instantly recognisable nom de guerre, thanks to countless remixes for the underground to the mainstream and back again. Remixes and reworks for the likes of Carl Craig, Adam Beyer, Trentmoller, Agoria, Slam, and Josh Wink to the name the few and cross over track reworks for the likes of New Order adding his midas touch to the seminal ‘Blue Monday’
